Reflection 2 By Alejandro Perez Introduction           Last week our class wrapped up three chapter presentations for SPC1017. Each group was handed a different topic at random, and I served as the project manager for Group 01 while other groups were led by their own managers under the guidance of our instructor. That setup meant we all had to lean on teamwork, clear deadlines, and open communication to pull our presentations together. Listening to classmates explain complex ideas in their own voices made the material stick far better than any single lecture ever could. It felt a bit like running alongside each other in a relay race, passing ideas, offering support, and keeping the pace until the finish line. Below I share what I enjoyed, what I learned, and what stuck with me from each group’s session. Group 01: Economics of Education           As Group 01’s project manager I divided the work so everyone had ownership, but ...

Aspirations, Education, and Wellness I had the chance to listen to thoughtful and meaningful presentations, each tackling important topics that influence how we live, connect, and grow . The first presentation, "Education and the Economy," was my group’s topic. I focused especially on how unequal school funding affects opportunities for students depending on their race, income level, and access to technology. It opened my eyes to how deeply systemic inequality is tied to educational outcomes, and how education shapes our future earning power and career access. Next, the "Mental Health and Fun/Social Life" presentation explored the importance of emotional well being, especially for students navigating stress, relationships, and identity. It emphasized that balancing academics w hile also having fun and connect ing is a necessity. Lastly, the "Family and Potential Careers" presentation dove into the powerful influence of family legacy, cultural norms, ...

These presentations truly dug deep into what it is like and what truly goes on when it comes to education, finances, mental health, and social lives. Although these seem to be very distinct topics, they are all tied in and can be related to each other no matter what order they are put in. the topics not only affect our daily lives but our futures as well and all three groups did an amazing job of tying in together all of these topics showing how they affect us now and how they can affect us in the future. Education Education is simply the process by which individuals acquire knowledge, skills, values, and pick up on habits. For a society to develop education needs to be a fundamental pillar that allows individuals to grow and succeed. It gives people the knowledge, skill, and abilities that enable them to contribute and advance in society. As was talked about in group 1’s presentation, education doesn’t only mean receiving knowledge but also helps someone with their self-confidence...

Why Education and Economy Matter Together. And What I Learned From It By: Celine Vidal Our group’s project was about the connection between education and the economy. The more we worked on it, the more it made sense how much these two things depend on each other. If we want a stronger economy, we have to support education more. That sounds simple, but there’s a lot behind it. Through this project, I learned not just from my own slides and research, but also from seeing what the other groups presented. It helped me understand how things like family, mental health, and social life all play a part too. What I Covered in Our Group Project In our group (Group 1), I was in charge of creating the brochure and the slides for “Why This Link Matters,” plus the key terms for both the economy and education. I made the entire brochure myself, and I’m actually proud of how it came out. I kept the design clean and focused on what people really needed to know. I also added references and visua...

Theme Presentations Blog #2 Group # 3 Family & Potential Careers I really enjoyed the presentation on Family & Potential Careers it was thoughtful, relatable, and full of insight. One of the things I appreciated most was how each point connected real-life experiences with future goals. The way the presenters highlighted how family can shape our values, expectations, and even the direction of our career paths really resonated with me. It reminded me that the support systems we have at home often play a major role in building our confidence and ambition. I also loved how the presentation broke down potential careers into practical steps, while still keeping it personal. The discussion about balancing personal passions with family expectations really stood out to me, especially because that’s something I think a lot of students including myself struggle with. Hearing how others navigate that balance was not only inspiring but also gave me a new perspective on how I can stay true t...
