Communication, Culture, and Leadership Listening to these presentations made me feel both inspired and reflective. Each presentation explored topic s that weren’ t just relevant to communication, they were personally meaningful to me. As I listened, I found myself connecting the lessons to my own life experiences. Chapter 3 covered "Intercultural Communication", which my group presented and I mainly focused on how culture, gender, socioeconomic status, and generational identity influence the way we express ourselves and interact with others. Next, Chapter 9 covered "Communicating in Groups", which explored the different type s of groups we participat e in, what makes a group healthy or dysfunctional, and how group development impacts teamwork. Lastly, Chapter 10 covered "Group Leadership and Problem Solving", which broke down the styles and responsibilities of leadership, and the step by step process of how to solve problems effectively in group se...

Reflection 1 By Alejandro Perez Introduction      Last week our class wrapped up a series of chapter presentations for SPC1017. Each group was assigned a different section from the textbook, so no one got to cherry pick a favorite topic. That random assignment turned out to be a blessing because it forced us to dig into material we might have skimmed otherwise. Hearing classmates explain ideas in their own words made the content stick better than any lecture. Intercultural Communication, Chapter 3, my group      My team was handed Chapter 3 on intercultural communication, and I curiosity got the better of me and I decided to become a project manager. I don’t know if to thank or spite my curiosity, leading was stressful and also pretty interesting. I enjoy ...

What I Learned Through Our Intercultural Communication Presentation By Celine Vidal This past week, my class presented in groups on different communication topics for SPC1017. My group focused on Intercultural Communication, and I had three slides: Culture and Communication, Disability and Communication, and Competent Communication Strategies. I was nervous going into it, especially since I spoke first, but I ended up feeling proud of how I did. Preparing the presentation and listening to the other groups actually taught me a lot. Preparing Our Group Presentation Our group was assigned Chapter 3, and each of us picked a topic from it. I chose mine early on because I wanted to work on something I felt connected to, and I liked the idea of breaking down what culture really means and how it shows up in communication. When I was making my slides, I tried to keep them simple but clear. I didn’t want too many words or anything confusing. I also wanted my speech to sound natural, so ...
