Reflection #1
Speaking as One: Group Communications
I would have never thought id be extremly engaged and egar to learn more and more about each of the presentations. I am going to give a breif overview on all the amazing things that were presented and taught. The chapters that were assigned to the three groups were Chapters 3, 9, and 10 which where Intercultural Communications, Communicating in Groups, and lastly Leadership and Problem Solving. Each one of these chapters were assigned to the groups allowing a deeper dive into the true meaning and value behind the message of the chapter.
Chapter 9: Communicating in Groups
Once this presentation began, I already had such a good feeling about it. The introduction was super clear and brought me excitement to learn more. It truely keept me engaged. Once the presentation began, I knew it was going to be a good topic to learn, beacause it relates so much to our daily lives regarding how communication is key to success.
There was so much said that stuck onto me, making me nod my head in agreement, saying "Wow ive never thought about that". The key ideas taken away from the presentation and topic are identifying different types if groups, how to describe characteristics of healthy groups, explaining the stages through which groups develop, and lastly employing strategies to manage group conflict effectively.
Not only was I listening, but I was writing down lots of notes that were meaningfull to mylife and relatable to real situations. Having clear communications is one of the most important transmitions of information in human life. One point that was made and super true was how communication isnt done properly if one person does all the work. Healthy communication groups work fairly, listen to each other, and celebrate wins together. Everything about this presentation was clear, teachable, and much life advice.
